Why Send My Child to Rhee Tae Kwon-Do?

8 Reasons for Your Kids to Learn Rhee Tae Kwon-Do

Confidence

Confidence is key! As you move through the ranks of Rhee Tae Kwon-Do you will be faced with difficult tasks. Mastering these tasks will give you the confidence to move onto a new level. A great lesson, not just in Rhee Tae Kwon-Do but in any area of your life.

Discipline

This is another point that ripples throughout a child’s life. However, to master the different levels of any martial art you’ve got to have physical and mental discipline. Rhee Tae Kwon-Do gives children practice using the body and mind in harmony – which helps in developing a calm and disciplined mind.

Defence

Your child may not be able to take on any opponent in the world. However, they will learn techniques to help them defend themselves in hostile situations. They will also learn when to stand their ground or to simply walk away.

Endurance

Rhee Tae Kwon-Do is an activity that builds strength and endurance. With persevere students will learn the lesson that reward comes through effort.

Health

We have an epidemic of childhood obesity in this country. Rhee Tae Kwon-Do is a great way to get moving, burn off calories and build in your child lifelong habits in keeping fit, active and healthy.

Learn How to Take a Punch

This is a difficult concept for some parents to get their head around let alone accept. The best defence in most situations is to get away and remove yourself from a bad situation. If there is some reason you have not left the situation it usually means your opponent has thrown the first punch, or has attacked you in some way. If you know what it feels like to take a punch and keep your wits about you, your chances of staying in control are much greater.

Leadership

Part of attaining a black belt and higher is teaching your knowledge to others. When ready, your child will learn to pass on their knowledge and techniques to beginning students as part of their training. This helps build confidence and fosters an ability to lead. It also gradually exposes a child to responsibility and the many challenges that come with it.

Fight in a Controlled Environment

Another difficult one to accept as a parent but unlike many other martial arts we don’t teach to fight as competition but instead to practice their techniques in a controlled manner. No contact is promoted, instead students learn to control their techniques. They will gain experience of fighting in a controlled environment without getting hurt. As they grow they’ll face opponents of similar age and abilities.
